Douglas Newton, M.D., M.P.H., is a psychiatrist and the former Chief Medical Officer at SonderMind, whose mission is to redesign behavioral health through increased access, expanded utilization, and improved mental health outcomes.

Prior to joining SonderMind, Doug served as National Senior Medical Director at UnitedHealth Group. In that role, he oversaw care engagement and management to develop a high-performing network of mental health providers. Before working with UnitedHealth Group, Doug held several senior leadership roles at Kaiser Permanente, and Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG).

Doug holds a B.S. and an M.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a Master’s in Public Health from Yale. He completed residency training in Adult Psychiatry at Dartmouth and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
