Carol R. Hughes, Ph.D., LMFT, is the co-author of Home Will Never Be the Same Again: A Guide for Adult Children of Gray Divorce. She is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, EMDR therapist, and family-focused divorce professional who is also board-certified in clinical hypnosis. For more than 30 years, she has helped adults, adolescents, and children in her private practice in Laguna Hills, California. In addition to her private practice, Hughes has served as a court-ordered family therapist, reunification therapist, child and co-parenting specialist, collaborative divorce coach, and mediator, assisting hundreds of parents and children facing separation and divorce.

Hughes is a frequent presenter at statewide and international conferences for attorneys, mental health professionals, and financial professionals on the effects of divorce on families, the value of the child specialist, collaborative divorce, consensual dispute resolution, and adult children of gray divorce. In addition, she trains and mentors mediation and collaborative divorce professionals, and has appeared on the television series, “How to Get a Divorce.” In 2011, Collaborative Practice California honored Hughes with the Eureka Award that recognizes and honors "those who have made significant contributions and demonstrated an abiding dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California.”

Bruce R. Fredenburg, M.S., LMFT, is the co-author of Home Will Never Be the Same Again: A Guide for Adult Children of Gray Divorce. He helps families solve painful problems they struggle with and cannot solve by themselves. He is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and board-certified in clinical hypnosis. In addition, he has created and taught parenting classes for adoptive and foster parents. Trained and experienced in chronic pain management, trauma, addiction, mediation, and collaborative divorce, Fredenburg helps families as a therapist, divorce coach, child and coparenting specialist, and mediator in his practice in Laguna Hills, California.

Fredenburg has created and presented training programs for corporations, government agencies, schools, and professional associations. He has authored several audio learning and self-help programs including Anxiety Solution, Sleep Solution, Take the Pain Out of Change, and Men and Women: How to Understand Each Other. He has presented widely at state and national conferences for attorneys, mental health professionals, and financial professionals on the overlooked value of the child specialist, collaborative divorce, consensual dispute resolution, and adult children of gray divorce.
