Carl Nassar Ph.D., LPC.

About

Carl R. Nassar, Ph.D., LPC, CIIPTS, is a writer, researcher, international trainer and supervisor, former university professor, and practicing psychotherapist. He writes about what his research shows: That we live in a culture of consumerism, but our true home is a culture of connection.

Carl first earned a Bachelor's, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from McGill University at the age of 27. He became a tenured professor at Colorado State University, where he was the recipient of numerous teaching and research awards. But none of this silenced his misgivings about his career choice, and he began to ponder a very different future.

This led Carl to new graduate degrees in counseling psychology and a 25-year (and counting) career as a professional counselor and international clinical trainer and supervisor. As a part of his counseling journey, Carl founded and served as the CEO of Colorado’s largest outpatient mental health organization, Heart Centered Counseling, which was eventually acquired by LifeStance Health.

Carl is working on a new book, Born for a Better World. It will be published in early 2025. He is married to Gretchen, and they have a daughter, Kaila. They live together in Colorado.
