Sarah Allen Benton, LMHC, LPC, LCPC AADC, is the co-owner of Benton Behavioral Health Consulting, which provides clinical and business support services for behavioral health companies. She is also the co-owner and Chief Clinical Officer of Waterview Behavioral Health intensive outpatient program for mental health in Wallingford, CT. She was previously the Clinical Strategy Advisor and former Director of Clinical Services at Aware Recovery Care. Sarah is the author of the book Understanding the High-Functioning Alcoholic and Parents in Recovery: Navigating a Sober Family Lifestyle. She speaks publicly and trains mental health and healthcare professionals internationally through PESI, Trusted Provider Network (TPN), Harvard Medical School, Executive Links in Canada, and others.

Sarah has been a primary therapist at several behavioral health levels of care in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. She worked at McLean Hospital at McLean Brook, a transitional living program for co-occurring disorders, The Obsessive Compulsive Disorders Institute, and the Klarman Eating Disorders Center in Belmont, MA. She has also worked as a therapist and clinical consultant for Lynch Wellness Professional Group in Norwell, MA, and as a therapist at the Emmanuel College Counseling Center in Boston, MA.

She earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology degree from Northeastern University and has been involved in psychology research studies through McLean Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northeastern University, and the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. She was formerly the Vice-President of the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation of Greater Boston. She has been featured in a New York Times article by Jane Brody and has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, NPR, SiriusXM, and more. She has been in recovery from alcoholism since February 2004.
