Bianca Acevedo, Ph.D., is a research scientist, writer, and public speaker who specializes in love, sensitivity/empathy, yoga, and the brain. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from New York University and a Ph.D. in Social/Health Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has conducted research at the Department of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City; Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Dr. Acevedo conducts research at UCSB’s Dept. of Psychological & Brain Sciences. She has taught courses on Interpersonal Relationships and Positive Psychology; and has published several widely-recognized articles on the science of love and sensitivity, which have appeared in media outlets around the globe. Dr. Acevedo was the recipient of the 2012 International Women in Science Award and her recent book, "The Highly Sensitive Brain" is a finalist for the 2021 PROSE Award.
