Acceptance is an important element of successful relationships. Recognizing the other person for who he or she is and being attentive to the circumstances of the relationship moment by moment can greatly enhance relationship satisfaction. Accepting ourselves is also important; practicing self-compassion can facilitate our ability to accept our partners.
