The Day the Music Died

The music industry lost one of its pioneers on the night of October
30, when Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC was shot to death in a Queens, New
York, recording studio at short range. A trailblazing DJ of Hip Hop, Jam
Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, was the driving force behind the group
that brought such songs as "Walk This Way" and "My Adidas" to life.
Mizell's death has evoked an emotional outpouring from his many
fans.

The connection between music and emotion is burgeoning field now
being explored by psychologists. For a sense of a more academic approach,

of Sweden's Uppsala University and John Sloboda of the University of

JMJ is someone who has worked so hard to bring peace, unity, and
education to the world of rap. He's not suppose to go out like this. This
is a true tragedy.
