My mission as a psychotherapist and coach is to help people step into their greatest version and find fulfillment in their relationships, work, passion projects, hobbies, and life. My background in psychology combined with my pursuits in holistic health and creative expression help others take ownership of their lives whilst learning the art of manifestation and how to tap into the flow of co-creation. I currently practice as a therapist and clinical manager of an addiction treatment center, as well as in private practice with adults and neurodivergent children.

My clinical and research experience is largely based on mindfulness as a framework for psychotherapy. I have extensive experience working with anxiety and depression in adults, those suffering from chronic illness or pain, relationship and identity conflict, and those individuals overwhelmed with emotion or distant from their experience. My practice is goal oriented. I work intensely with clients to make changes in their personal lives, changes that they and others close to them can easily observe and acknowledge.

What in the world is going on?! No one ever taught us how difficult life can actually be. It may feel like you're floating through life, hoping one day things will be calmer, easier, better... You might be grappling with feelings of sadness, anxiety, or loneliness. Maybe you're going through a big change in your life and feeling a bit lost at sea. Maybe you just need a safe space to process and express your emotions (and wow are there a lot of emotions)! Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I'm here to support you every step of the way. You do not have to do this life thing alone! Connection is the foundation of liberation.

I understand how difficult it is to feel anxious, sad, or depressed, and how those feelings can impact the relationships in your life. You do not have to face these challenges alone. My work as a therapist centers on providing empathy, understanding, and a safe place where you can openly express your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will process how the experiences and relationships in your life have affected your mood, your happiness, the way you communicate with others, and more importantly, the way you view yourself.

Sometimes therapy can help increase our awareness around what is holding us back, what is making us suffer, or can help us to be more authentically who we want to be. I specialize in working with people who have experienced Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), which often results in some of the following features: emotional flashbacks, anxiety, depression, inner-criticism, self-abandonment, and shame. I am affirming of all ethnicities, races, abilities, sexual orientations and gender identities and welcome the chance to look at how culture may be impacting what you are struggling with. What are your therapeutic goals?

Life, man. Life. With the highs, come the inevitable lows which can be difficult to navigate, much less tolerate. Sometimes the lows look like sadness or irritability and feel like stuckness. Sometimes the lows look like not connecting with your partner, your child, or yourself. Sometimes the lows are just hard to describe, but they certainly don't feel good. We work together to provide you with the tools you need to move through your stuckness, your lack of connection, your difficulty communicating, or whatever it is that creates frustration or pain, in order to help you feel lighter, better, and maybe even hopeful.

Creative individuals struggle with self esteem and career issues. Additionally, depression, anxiety, trauma, or a significant life transition, can interfere with career and relationships. Why haven’t we achieved success and fulfillment? -- We go through life feeling there must be more; more to our potential, our relationships, or just more? We imagine meeting the perfect partner and staying in love with them forever. Why can’t we find that perfect partner?

I believe therapy to be an important and sacred space in which people can unburden themselves and work through anything they may struggle to process. It's a place in which they can be completely honest and open up about any issues that are difficult to talk about with others, like sharing their unique perspective or receiving validation for their feelings. There are many things that come up in therapy, and I take a completely non-judgmental approach toward discussing these emotions, allowing clients to find their own ways forward from their starting points.

Some people find their minds weighted down with overthinking, replaying difficult conversations, worrying, and trapped in self-judgment and criticism. They're often finding fault in others, and can find it difficult to feel connected and at home in relationships, feeling alone even when next to someone they know. Friendships and marriages suffer, and families can drift apart. Efforts to try to fix things don't work, and they're left feeling helpless, not knowing which direction to go, hiding their true emotions from the people in their lives.

My therapeutic approach hinges on these core beliefs: 1) Thoughts are just thoughts. They aren’t always true, important, or meaningful. 2) Feelings aren’t problems to be fixed. They are all part of the human experience. 3) Taking values-aligned action is the key to living a life that fulfills you. These ideas are inspired by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, an approach that involves accepting what is beyond our control, practicing loving self-compassion, and redirecting our behaviors toward the values that we hold most dearly.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Studio City?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
