As a therapist and yoga teacher, I believe in a holistic approach to personal growth. I have training and experience in how to use mindfulness and somatic (aka body-based or sensory) techniques to address a range of concerns. I specialize in working with anxiety, addictive behaviors, and folks who want to feel better about how they see themselves. I do often see people who have a trauma history, but whether or not we process it is entirely up to them. Ultimately, it is my intention to help clients build a better relationship with all parts of themselves including their bodies.
Clients and I will spend time processing past and current issues, as well as developing skills to meet short term goals. Sessions may include re-establishing client values (ACT), using breath work and sensory checks (mindfulness), and building insight into limiting subconscious beliefs that hold them back from their potential (psychodynamic therapy).
By using mindfulness as a home base in therapy, I hope to help clients integrate nonjudgmental thinking and awareness into daily life. Letting go of judgement or expectation allows us to focus on the things that really matter. If you were able to do this more often, how would things be different?
