Shame convinces individuals that they are bad instead of understanding that something bad happened. Having a counselor that can listen with an open mind and heart, and validate your pain is a start. Sexual abuse takes time to heal, it is not something that can heal quickly, because it affects everything we do. Similarly, when infidelity occurs it is difficult to understand "why" it happened. I am a certified Christian Sex Therapist, bi-lingual (Spanish/English) and understand how difficult it is to acclimate to a different culture.
My personal philosophy is that people are wounded in relationship and that it is in relationship where the greatest healing occurs. I tailor my therapy to meet the needs of my individual clients.
