If you have been feeling lonely, sad or anxious, we can share a safe space where you can tell me your concerns. The main purpose of therapy is generating deep awareness of one's own personality and behaviour, understand about your inner world (thoughts, emotions, feelings), inquiring how our past affects our present. With this understanding one can move onto learning skills in order to manage emotions and behaviour. The therapeutic approach I use depends on the client's needs and resources available, with a strong foundation on a trauma-informed approach.

Whether you are coming to me for counselling or coaching, on your own, or with others, the quality of our relationship is an important aspect of your success in your journey of healing, growth and development. My priority is to ensure a safe, nurturing environment where you can trust our relationship so you can be your true self. And if there are more than one of you in the session, I want to assure you of even-handedness—listening to, and caring for each of you, as individuals while seeking to enhance your relationship together.

Greetings. My name is Hamish and I'm here to support you in making peace with anxiety and strong emotions. My modality is a "bottom-up" therapy, based on awareness of emotions in the body. We can spend our lives avoiding, resisting, and guarding against unpleasant feelings and situations. My invitation is for you to find a safe, supported space, where you can learn to be present with your emotions, without feeling overwhelmed. You will learn to pivot from distress to calm, without ignoring difficult feelings, to relax and move THROUGH difficult emotions, and you will take the lead in your own healing.

I have worked with a wide range of clients over the 8 years I have been in the mental health field. I acknowledge that we are all individuals who require a unique approach to therapy. We will work collaboratively to develop the goals you want to achieve in therapy whether that be developing concrete skills to use in your everyday life or delving deeper into the root causes of your mental health issues. I will be there to guide you and support you in the ways you need. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy if that's improving an already positive life or uncovering the reasons why life feels more difficult than it should be.

We all know how difficult it can be to start something new. Whether it’s your first time in therapy or not, it’s quite normal to feel a range of different emotions. With this said, sometimes leaning into the process and stepping out of your comfort zone can bring a sense of relief and broaden your perspective on what’s possible. At times, we can feel as if we are walking life’s path alone, but that doesn’t mean we have to. Therapy provides that additional support and guidance to uncover barriers, facilitate options, and choose a value driven direction in life.

Having been trained not only as a psychotherapist but also as a Yoga psychology teacher, I believe that the events we have been through are part of our soul's journey towards wholeness. By learning from our experiences and transcending our suffering, we become more conscious, awaken our inner light, find our purpose, and discover our qualities and gifts. My approach combines the sciences behind Western psychologies (psychodynamic, transpersonal, etc.) with the wisdom behind Eastern traditions/ philosophies (Yoga psychology, mindfulness, etc). If that resonates with you, I am happy to assist you on your journey.

Are you struggling to talk about what's going on for you to people in your life? Perhaps you don't feel comfortable sharing certain aspects of yourself with them or maybe there isn't anyone there you can actually trust/ talk to. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to curiously explore/learn more about yourself and whatever is troubling you, so that you can make the changes necessary to live a more fulfilling life.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and I work with adults over the age of 18. I offer individual therapy in a safe therapeutic space where individuals can explore and understand themselves better. Therapy is a pathway that can help individuals to become more in tune with their authentic selves and strengthen their relationships with others. Psychotherapy aims to add depth to life and relational experiences by assisting individuals to understand what is causing them mental distress. Through greater self-awareness and exploration, individuals are likely to experience an increase in emotional, professional, and relational growth.

When we trust ourselves, we trust Life. We know we are meant to be loving, caring, and compassionate beings, who courageously trust in the love and abundance of the Universe. However, Life happens, and there are times when we forget this and feel lost! Then it can be too hard to name confusion, pain, grief, and loss. Luckily, music can speak for us! Stress, anxiety, and the pressures and challenges of relationships, family, work, and daily life can feel overwhelming. So we reach out for help to find our way back to ourselves. We want clarity about our issues and a safe place to explore them. We want help!
