Steven Mintz Ph.D.

Steven Mintz, Ph.D., is a leading authority on the history of the family and an expert on the history of the life course. He is the author and editor of 14 books, including Domestic Revolutions: A Social History of American Family Life, Huck’s Raft: A History of American Childhood and, most recently, The Prime of Life: A History of Modern Adulthood.

Previously a fellow at Stanford's Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, he has chaired the Council on Contemporary Families and served as president of the Society for the History of Children and Youth.

A pioneer in the application of new technologies to teaching and learning, Mintz is a professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin and Executive Director of the University of Texas System’s Institute for Transformational Learning, which leverages new technologies to make a high quality education more affordable, accessible, and successful. He previously taught at Columbia University, Harvard University's Extension School, Oberlin College, Pepperdine University, the University of Houston, and Germany's Universitat-GH-Siegen.
