Nancy Kalish, Ph.D., was professor emeritus of psychology at California State University, Sacramento. Kalish began conducting research on reunited couples in 1993 and was an expert on rekindled romances and lost loves.

Her landmark study of 1,001 people across 50 states and 42 countries, ages 18 to 89, who tried reunions with former sweethearts was reported in her book, Lost & Found Lovers: Facts and Fantasies of Rekindled Romances (William Morrow Inc., 1997).

Her second book, an ebook available at her website, lostlovers.com and at Amazon.com in Kindle format, is The Lost Love Chronicles: Reunions and Memories of First Love. It includes the best lost love stories that were sent by readers of her first book, as well as some findings from her 2004-2005 survey of 1,300 rekindled romance participants, ages 18 to 95, across 42 countries.

Her website, lostlovers.com, features video and audio clips of her selected media interviews; articles; photos of reunited couples; and a popular members' forum to discuss personal experiences with rekindled romances.

Kalish earned her doctorate from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She taught at Monmouth University and Loyola University before beginning her tenure at California State University.

Kalish served as a member of American Psychological Association's Media Watch Committee, Division 46, Media Psychology. She was featured as the expert in a documentary produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (Love Interrupted, 2009) and traveled to Sydney, Australia, to participate in a lost love segment for 60 Minutes. She also appeared on Oprah, 20/20, Montel, CNN, NBC, and National Public Radio's Weekend Edition and The Morning Edition, and she was quoted as a relationship expert in magazines as diverse as Psychology Today, AARP, YM, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, Health, and Playboy. Her research generated newspaper articles as far-reaching as Japan, India, Israel, England, South Africa, and Brazil, from small, hometown publications to The New York Times, USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, and The Times (London); her research was featured twice in "Dear Abby" and on the front page of The Boston Globe.

Dr. Nancy Kalish passed away on July 27, 2019.
