About

Lu Wang, Ph.D., has researched the biological basis of music aptitude, number sense, and visuospatial thinking. She's interested in sharing current psychological research findings on the topic of how genetic and environmental factors interact in shaping the neuroplasticity of our brain across the lifespan, and is particularly interested in translating insights from recent neuroscience and psychological research on the cognitive and socio-emotional benefits of musical training to a broad readership. Wearing the hat of a music educator, she has observed firsthand how students at different developmental stages interact with music and is excited to share insights gained from research-based instructional strategies that have been effective in teaching various types of students.
