Elena Mikalsen, Ph.D., is the Chief of Pediatric Psychology at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She is an expert in child and adolescent mental health, as well as postpartum depression and anxiety. Her practice specializes in anxiety and depression, trauma, sport injury recovery, OCD, trichotillomania, tics, chronic mental illness, and issues facing the LGBTQ+ population. She is a nationally recognized expert on mental health, frequently quoted in major publications. She has championed an effort to provide services for underserved populations in South Texas and has recently led an effort to provide psychological care for victims of the Robb Elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
