About

Dusana Dorjee, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Psychology in Education in the Department of Education at the University of York in the UK. She is a clinical psychologist and cognitive neuroscientist by training. Dusana is heading the Well Minds Lab, which investigates cognitive, affective, and neural underpinnings of mental health and well-being from a developmental perspective. Dusana has also proposed a framework for research in contemplative science. Building on this framework, she investigates the modes of existential awareness (MEAs), which describe phenomenologically distinct awareness states or traits encompassing one’s sense of self and reality. Dusana has co-authored (with a focus on neuroscience content) a mindfulness-based well-being curriculum called "The Present Course for Primary Schools." She is the author of Mind, Brain and the Path to Happiness: A Guide to Buddhist Mind Training and the Neuroscience of Meditation (Routledge, 2013) and Neuroscience and Psychology of Meditation in Everyday Life: Searching for the Essence of Mind (Routledge, 2017).
