Christopher Mruk, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology at Bowling Green State University and a fellow of the American Psychological Association. His books include Self-Esteem and Positive Psychology: Research, Theory, and Practice (4th Edition, Springer Publishing Company, 2013) written for scholarly audiences, and Feeling Good by Doing Good: A Guide to Authentic Self-Esteem and Well-Being (Oxford University Press, 2019) which is more practical. He is an Associate Editor of The Humanistic Psychologist, a publication of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Mruk’s clinical background includes working at an addiction center, serving as a crisis intervention specialist, directing a college counseling center, and functioning as a consulting psychologist, although teaching and writing constitutes the majority of his career.
