About

Bert Pepper, MD, MS, is a clinical psychiatrist and has had teaching positions at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, New York University, and other medical schools. He has worked in a federal prison and a state hospital and has had extensive experience working with homeless people. He has conducted many day-long workshops on co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; they helped to integrate treatment protocols across North America and Europe.

Pepper's current focus is on how childhood trauma—sexual, physical, emotional—can have negative consequences for the rest of the person’s life. He leans on evolutionary psychology to understand the differences in the behavior patterns of men and women.
