Andrea Mathews LPC, NCC

Andrea Mathews is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Counseling Supervisor, and a National Certified Counselor. She has over 30 years experience in the mental health and human services field, holding such positions as counselor, family therapist, program director, clinical director, and clinical consultant. For the past 23 years, she has provided cognitive and transpersonal therapy for a variety of issues and diagnoses in a thriving solo private practice.

After over 20 years of her own personal study of the various world religions and paths to the divine, Andrea finally returned to school and obtained a PhD in interfaith/interspiritual studies. She uses this work both in her writing and in her Transpersonal practice.

Andrea is also a National Board of Certified Counselors, Approved Continuing Education Provider, and an approved provider of continuing education for the Alabama Board of Examiners for Social Workers. Currently she is providing a series of workshops which introduce and augment the skills of the clinician in considering such issues as spiritual abuse, and in enhancing the spiritual issues that arise in therapy through an open, ethical, interfaith/interspiritual approach to these issues.

As motivational speaker, she provides corporate training on many of the soft skills, such as communication, problem solving and authentic leadership to both large and small corporations. As an inspirational speaker, Andrea provides workshops and seminars to the public and to large and small associations on such topics as can be found in her books.

She is the author of three books, several articles, this blog, several poems in various literary magazines. Mathews also hosts an internet radio show called "Authentic Living," on which she has interviewed some of the world's most prolific authors and world thought leaders, including: Mark Nepo, Iyanla Vanzant, Marianne Williamson, Gary Zukav, Dr. Christian Northrup, Tom Shadyac, Rosanne Cash, Joan Borysenko, Caroline Myss, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Dr. Judith Orloff, Neale Donald Walsch, Bruce Lipton, Thomas Moore, Byron Katie, Dan Millman, Julia Cameron and many more. The show has been syndicated on VoiceAmerica for over ten years.

Her own books include, her latest, which came out in August of 2017, by Llewellyn Publishing, entitled, Letting Go of Good: Dispel the Myth of Goodness to Find Your Genuine Self. Using her clinical experience as a foundation, this book explores the Good Guy Identity, offering solutions to this devastating problem.
