For many, celebrating diversity means pretending that our differences are superficial, that people are people. Yet, even in these celebratory spaces, there is an elephant in room. The reality is that race shapes our life prospects from birth until death. Forming authentic cross-racial relationships means first acknowledging the different racial realities of our lives.
