Although it's not an officially recognized week, here at Pills Don't Teach Skills it's ADD/ADHD Women's Week! Please check in every day for information on women with ADD/ADHD. As recently as 2004, I
was able to find online information with surprisingly shocking comments like this; "Knowledge of ADHD in women at this time is extremely limited as few studies have been conducted on this population. Women have only recently begun to be diagnosed and treated for ADHD, and today, most of what we know about this population is based on the clinical experience of mental health professionals who have specialized in treating women."
Times have changed for the better and as a starting point, if you are a woman and need some support, a great resource is WomenWithADHD.com or at MyADHDblog.com . In addition, there are some Special Issues for Women with ADD (ADHD) to read about at ADDvance.com .
I'll look forward to sharing more information this week and would encourage you to share yours a well. Don't forget to register for the 4th Annual AD/HD Virtual Conference
