Welcome to Next Step Therapy, an experienced and friendly therapy practice in the heart of Dublin. Our clinical services are: counselling and psychotherapy, addiction assessment and treatment, EMDR for PTSD and complex trauma. I see my therapy room as a sacred space where people can explore things they usually don’t talk about. I approach therapy with an attentive reverence and an attitude of kindness and compassion. The process of therapy is to offer a safe place to explore and name and then change, or accept, these thoughts, attitudes, feelings, moods or behaviours and to experience someone who listens and supports.

Talking is medicine. I don't mean it's like medicine; I mean IT IS medicine. It heals. It gives clarity and perspective; It makes people feel better. I have been lucky enough to help and witness people change how they think and feel so that life feels easier - not so damn difficult all the time. I have seen the smiles on faces as lifelong emotional burdens are put down and life can be lived fully again. I have had the privilege of helping people from all walks of life deal with many types of issues; from the immediate, such as trouble with work, to challenges and issues whose roots stretch back to childhood.

You are constantly feeling like something is missing. Caring for others is beginning to take its toll on you. You are not sure what is going on but you just know things can not stay the same. Deciding to attend therapy can be challenging. Finding a suitable therapist even more difficult. Trusting a psychologist to take this journey with you can be extremely terrifying and intimidating. If you are looking for someone that will be understanding, supportive but most of all help you achieve your therapeutic goals. Contact me now and begin your process.

My approach to treatment is very much guided by the person who walks through the door. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all form of therapy and the direction the treatment will take will be informed by the relationship between therapist and client. I use an integrative approach that involves humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive therapy; whatever I feel best suits the individual client’s needs. While in session, I try to create a safe and non-judgemental space where my clients can explore what is going on for them in the moment. We then work together to make the changes they wish to see in their lives.

The way I work is guided by the values of curiosity, creativity, and compassion. My aim is to offer you a freeing, non-judgemental environment where you can really be yourself; a safe space where you are encouraged to explore, question and grow in your own time; where every experience, feeling and part of you is welcome, particularly those ones that have been out in the cold. At the beginning, the process can be like a ball of yarn, with many different threads tangled together. We will collaborate to unravel these threads, weaving them into something that makes more sense and is hopefully more manageable.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is ideally suited to clients who are undergoing a certain amount of mental suffering, and are motivated to do the slow, demanding work of finding out what has given rise to it. Clients may use therapy to talk about distressing experiences they have recently or not so recently undergone, dilemmas or difficult decisions they find themselves faced with, or symptoms such as depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts and rituals, and some varieties of chronic pain for which there is no apparent medical cause.
