www.aspacetobetherapy.ie - I founded A Space To Be to provide clients with a safe and confidential space to be themselves and to further discover themselves. Working from a humanistic and person centred ethos means I believe that you, the client, hold the tools within to heal and grow. Experiencing early adversity and traumatic life events can cloud perception, create defences and disrupt the relationship held with one's self. Issues such as low self esteem, anxiety and depression can arise. I work in a collaborative and empowering yet gentle way to accompany you on your journey of reconnection and healing.

My approach to treatment is very much guided by the person who walks through the door. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all form of therapy and the direction the treatment will take will be informed by the relationship between therapist and client. I use an integrative approach that involves humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive therapy; whatever I feel best suits the individual client’s needs. While in session, I try to create a safe and non-judgemental space where my clients can explore what is going on for them in the moment. We then work together to make the changes they wish to see in their lives.

I welcome all clients regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Clients who have experienced traumatic episodes in their life. Clients who have felt they have always been on their own. They may have always felt that they have had no one to protect them, never felt loved or nurtured. Clients who feel they are totally disconnected with who they are. Such clients may feel they are totally lost and have no direction in their life. I welcome all such clients to my practice. Together we will find the reconnection to Self and in doing so find a purpose and goal in life.

Talk therapy is for anyone unhappy with life or an aspect of life and looking for support. With commitment and curiosity, therapy enables consideration of life challenges and what change is needed. Following an initial one-to-one session, a client agrees to work on a regular basis to explore their areas of concern. My role is to listen and provide support through objective, sensitive and holistic enquiry.

“I provide an opportunity for people to share how they are feeling within a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental environment. I use my skills, education, and training, together with my life experience to support clients within my practice. I work with clients presenting with a variety of issues including loss and grief, critical illness, loss of meaning in life, relationship issues, mother-daughter difficulties, complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, women’s reproductive issues and many others. As therapy progresses, I often find that presenting issues change as the relationship unfolds, and this too can be part of the process".

As a therapist, Suzanne works with heart and creativity, meeting the client where they are at. With acceptance and curiosity, Suzanne provides a safe, supportive and appropriately challenging space for her clients to discover who and how they are in the world. Centered around the ‘here and now’, gestalt psychotherapy can support the individual to identify and get to know the ‘roadblocks’ that they experience in life. From this place of awareness, individuals can learn to tap into their innate creativity and potential, naturally moving towards growth and healing.

I work by providing a safe, nurturing and compassionate space in which you can become enabled to heal and grow. We will build a collaborative therapeutic relationship in which you will feel heard and understood and accepted. Our connection then becomes the first step towards you building and having a supportive, nurturing and compassionate relationship with yourself. Through therapy you can also learn how to recognise and understand negative patterns of behaviour which have been causing suffering and stress in your life and learn new ways of behaving and being.
