If you are feeling anxious, confused, depressed, unfulfilled, or are trying to adjust to a life change, therapy is a good choice. These feelings don't have to last forever. I work with people who are experiencing low self-esteem, relationship or family issues, sadness, body image or eating disorders, sexual issues, bereavement and trauma. Therapy is useful in creating a personal sanctuary where you can take time to reflect and understand the reasoning behind the decisions you have made, and for facilitating change in your life. In this process, I can help you see how the past is impacting the present and how you can get passed this.

Hello. I am James Foley the provider of counselling at Prevail, a professional therapy service for the west of Dublin. I am keen to help those with emotional hurt and negative behaviours in my locality. After nearly 30 years of caring for the emotionally broken I now want to provide my services for those in my own locality. I do not discriminate working with a client based on their presentation. I adapt to the clients needs and personality in providing the service that suit them best. The relationship between the client and counsellor is what matters most in bringing about positive change, and empathic listening is key to this.

My aim is to offer a safe space for clients to explore their issues in a non-judgemental, empathetic and genuine way. In this supportive environment, clients have an opportunity to understand their feelings, their reactions and behaviours openly.

In most people's lives there comes a time when they need support to work out long-term issues. Or perhaps they have met with stresses in their relationships or at work. Often we struggle on, relying on family or friends. Sometimes we turn to strategies that worked for us before, but no longer seem to help us with our pain. We may feel depressed, anxious, isolated and unable to see a way out for ourselves. Perhaps we begin to experience the unnerving feeling of a panic attack. Or we may find ourselves overusing alcohol, struggling with food, spending or other addictions.
