Are you having difficulty coping? Do you feel tired all the time and lack interest in everyday life? You may be fed up with feeling stuck, struggling with negative thoughts or having little to no confidence in yourself. You might not even remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to feel like yourself again. You’re ready to take control of your situation. Most of all, you’re ready to love life again & to face your future with a sense of hope.

I have advanced training to master's degree level in many areas of psychotherapy such as CBT, Hu manistic, Psychodynamic, Couples Therapy, Systemic, Sports Psychotherapy, and Psychosexual.
Do you feel anxious, stuck, stressed or down? Perhaps you are having difficulties within your relationships and find yourself repeating the same negative patterns over and over again. Maybe you experienced a traumatic event that you feel may be negatively influencing your life today and holding you back from being the best version of yourself. I aim to create a safe, confidential space for both individuals and couples where we can explore the issues that you face and help you find a way to overcome them.

As every person is unique, I do not believe that one style of counselling fits all. Counselling can and should be adapted to suit each person depending on their needs. I work in a collaborative way as a therapist. This means we will work together to discover which style of counselling is most helpful to you.

The framework that underpins my work from the outset is hu manistic.
Hi, i work collaboratively with my clients on their journey of self discovery. As each individual is unique, the presenting problems/issues will dictate the modalities integrated. From the outset I work from a hu manistic framework . At the heart of my therapeutic work is the need to create a safe and confidential space to enable the building of the therapeutic relationship. My hope is to help the client navigate, understand and process feelings and emotions. Thus, allowing the client to live a fulfilling and happy life that maximises the chance of reaching their potential.

I prefer to focus on evidence-based practices in the field of psychotherapy as I believe it is what has helped my clients the most in the past. I want to help people learn to manage, or overcome, some intense feelings/thoughts/behaviours which can come with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I also have a previous degree in psychology and I believe that understanding the core psychological symptoms behind depression, anxiety, and ADHD, can help with improving the quality of life in the client. My main goal in therapy is to help give the client the necessary tools to cope with and manage life difficulties.

When we are suffering we tend to look at all that is wrong in our lives. We sometimes make judgements and assumptions about ourselves or our situations that focus mainly on the negative. We each have developed ways of being in the world that have enabled us to cope with whatever challenges we have had to face. These coping strategies become our defence mechanisms and are often developed by us at an early age when we had few resources. They can sometimes create negative patterns of relating to others and the world around us and become barriers to intimate or professional relationships.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
