I am an Irish psychotherapist working with clients on either a short term or long-term basis depending on their needs. My approach to treatment is very much guided by the client. I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all form of therapy. I am here to assist whether you are feeling the need for a journey of transformation, for balance in the middle of chaos, or for a connection between your body, mind, and soul. I believe that healing is always possible. Let's work together to rewrite your story, overcome obstacles, and bring about long-lasting, beneficial change. Take the first step toward positive change and get in touch.

I have worked with a broad client base, which has included working with anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, meaning-making, loss, abuse, suicidal ideation.
I believe in the clients’ ability to heal themselves and for the human potential to grow and change to be their best possible self. I see the therapeutic relationship as one which is co-created where the client is given a safe space to be themselves. While some life transitions may not always need support, I am keen to guide clients through whatever life challenges may bring them. My approach is a deeply sensitive, empathic, and compassionate way of being with clients. I believe a gentle, non-judgmental approach helps the client trust in the process of therapy through the supporting presence of a kind, listening heart.

My specialties are in the area of Anxiety, Depression, relationships, Grief and domestic abuse/r.
My clients present with multiple issues such as Depression, anxiety, workplace stress, grief, anger management and relationship issues etc. What they want from counselling is a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings about what is going on for them. Sometimes what they present with, may not be what is troubling them, the sessions will allow them to explore and discover that. Clients look for help to cope with these issues - stressors and/or manage multiple types of relationships. They are on a journey of self-discovery and self-compassion and they come to me for that help and support as they embark on that journey.

Through my work as a counsellor with Domestic Abuse, Rape Crisis and Aware I have come to understand the incredible ability people have to turn tragic lived experiences into powerful motivators for growth and resilience.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor treating both individuals and couples. I work with clients who are challenged by anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, post -traumatic stress, life transitions, behavioural difficulties and grief. I view personal problems in the context of people's relationship histories, including their earliest relationships, and their current ways of interacting with others and themselves. Change often follows naturally when a person is able to experience difficult feelings such as sadness, vulnerability or anger in manageable doses in the presence of someone who listens and understands their pain.

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
