Rashmita S. Mistry, Ph.D.
Rashmita S. Mistry, Ph.D., is a developmental psychologist, and Professor of Education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Together with the Children’s Understanding of Economic & Social Inequalities (CUESI) Lab, Dr. Mistry examines the consequences of family socioeconomic resources and disadvantage on children and adolescents’ health and wellbeing; young peoples’ perceptions and experiences of social status and social identity development, and the implications of school-level socioeconomic diversity for teaching, learning, and child development. Her scholarship has been recognized by a Distinguished Research Award (Human Development) from the American Educational Research Association (Division E), and a Social Policy Award for Best Edited Book from the Society for Research on Adolescence. Her research has been published in the journals Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Journal of Social Issues, among others.
