Jason E. Schiffman MD, MA, MBA

Jason Eric Schiffman, MD, MA, MBA is the Director of the UCLA Dual Diagnosis Program. He is also a primary investigator at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human behavior where he is engaged in translational research investigating new compounds for the treatment of schizophrenia, mood disorders, and addiction.

He completed his residency in Psychiatry at UCLA and is a graduate of the MD/MBA program at the University of Southern California where he focused on health systems management and web-based healthcare delivery. He has extensive research experience in molecular biology and is the author of numerous scientific publications in this field. Dr. Schiffman also received a Masters of Arts degree in Linguistics from UCLA where he specialized in syntax and semantics.

One of Dr. Schiffman's primary interests has been the development of novel psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic interventions to treat co-occuring addictive and anxiety disorders. As Director of the UCLA Dual Diagnosis Program, he has developed a treatment approach that addresses both the addictive process as well as associated anxiety or mood disorders, promoting recovery from both simultaneously.
