He is a clinical psychologist in Lafayette, California, Professor Emeritus at California State University and was the Director of the Eating Disorders Center at Chico Community Hospital. A formerly fat kid and overweight adult, he knows that it's easier to prevent obesity in childhood than it is to lose weight as an adult. He enjoys teaching parents how to help their kids maintain a healthy weight without increasing the risk of an eating disorder. Dr. Abramson is the author of many scientific studies of obesity and eating disorders. He is an Instructor at U. C. Berkeley Extension and was a Visiting Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at United Medical and Dental Schools, University of London. Dr. Abramson has appeared on dozens of TV and radio programs including 20/20, Hard Copy, and Joan Rivers. His work is routinely noted in publications including The New York Times; O, The Oprah Magazine; Parents Magazine and Fitness. Men's Health Magazine called him "the go-to authority on the 'why' of weight gain."
