About

Anthony D. Mancini, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who studies loss, trauma, resilience, and stressful life events. He is an associate professor of psychology at Pace University’s Pleasantville campus, and heads the Trauma, Social Processes, and Resilience Lab. His research focuses on the different ways that people react to acute stress, with a focus on novel or unexpected responses (such as psychological improvement after stress). His research also addresses the factors that contribute to successful adaptation, including stress appraisals, emotion regulation, social processes, and dispositional coping mechanisms. He address these questions in longitudinal field studies and laboratory studies using both trauma-exposed and normative samples. He has published over 50 journal articles and book chapters on individual differences in human stress responding, methodological innovations, and the factors associated with adaptation to acute stress.
