In one special moment, your life can change.

It's a fact. Even if you feel stuck. Even if you feel like you are going nowhere. And even if it feels hard or impossible to reach your goals in your love life or career.

Oprah is in People this month talking about the moments that changed her life. It took me back many years ago to when I was on Oprah’s show, talking about how to create a fabulous wedding experience. She was so appreciative, so respectful of me and my expertise. So warm on and off the air.

I was thunderstruck when I realized Oprah wanted to learn from me. Being with Oprah was thrilling! It was amazing! And so much more.

My Breakthrough Moment with Oprah

It was a moment way beyond my wildest dreams that changed my life: I stopped feeling like an imposter. Like a scared, stupid girl who knew nothing, who had nothing to offer. Someone posing as an expert. Instead, at that moment, with her validation, I stepped into my true identity as a woman who could truly help people—lots of people. And this has been my reality ever since.

I was inspired to build a training program and a coaching practice that transformed the lives of tens of thousands of women and men all over the world.

We all have incredible moments, large and small, that can change the course of our lives.

The universe offers certain experiences that lead to surprising breakthroughs—if you know how to look for and accept the change offered to you in your moment.

In fact, this could be one big moment of great possibility for you right now.

Here’s how to seize the moment to create a beautiful opening into a future beyond your wildest dreams.

Decide that it finally is your moment.

We are all so busy making it happen for everyone else. But what about the canvas that is your own life? As Oprah says, “You alone are painting your own canvas, thought by thought, choice by choice.”

The simple act of deciding with conviction that now is your time, once and for all, tends to shift everything in your direction.

When the call came from the Oprah producer to book me on her show, I had two kids at home, and I actually thought twice about being away from them to go out of town, because they would miss me. (Of course, I was also scared to death at the time!) But the fact that I had that thought shows you how difficult it is for us women to stop taking care of others, especially children!

So right now, I want you to make a list of all the loved ones you are caring for in your life—your kids, your friends, your family members, even your pets. Then, I want you to write your own name right at the top of the list. Next, draw a big, fat circle around your name. Finally, on another sheet of paper or on a new Word document, write out an affirmation like:

This is my moment to live fully into the love and career that is the calling of my heart!

Post the affirmation where you can see it every day. Just putting your full attention on it for a few seconds each day will tend to activate it in a very powerful way.

Give thanks as you claim your moment and your future.

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” —Oprah

Claiming your moment with thanks will supercharge the energy of your decision to change your life.

  • Close your eyes and imagine the kind of love that lights a fire in your heart and touches your soul, the kind that makes you reach for the stars. The kind where you feel at home and taken care of by a soulmate you can trust completely.
  • As you imagine this, put your hand over your heart. And feel blessed, feel the joy, the radiance, the happiness, and, most of all, the gratitude in your soul! And imagine the thrill of being an inspiration to others to create this kind of powerful, heart-centered love in their lives. Now smile, seated in your own happiness.
  • If you also want to claim your moment to create the work that is the calling of your heart: Close your eyes and imagine the kind of work that provides for you abundantly as you do what you truly love to do.

Get started by taking a small, simple step towards your new future.

“The woman who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones” —Chinese proverb

Just taking one small action moves the universe in the direction of your dreams. You will be super surprised at the possibilities that open up for you. And you will find that you have greatness hidden in you. Great Love. Hidden talents. Great ability to help and inspire others.

But how do you take a small step if you feel overwhelmed with things to do?

You find the simplest, easiest way to start. So, for example, you may be working full-time in a job that feels consuming and draining, but you want to become a dating and relationship coach who truly helps herself and others to find passionate, soulmate love.

Here are some small steps you can take right now:

1. Read blogs by successful dating and relationship coaches about how they started their practices.

2. Research coaching training options.

3. Create a plan to pay for the training you want.

4. Take some vacation time to complete your training.

5. Start listening in a helpful way to your friends who have love troubles.

6. Begin reading top books on dating and relationship advice.

7. Little steps create great changes!

Just follow your bliss—that is, perform right actions that feel good! That's exactly what I did after being with Oprah.

Take little actions that call to you. Keep doing them each day, whether you have only 10 minutes to read an exciting blog about a successful love coach or hours to attend a transformational workshop on self-love and empowerment. This is how you meet the calling of your heart.

Whatever your heart’s calling, follow the suggestions I have given you, sit back, feel good, and enjoy.

This powerful message is what I got from being with Oprah: Now is your moment. Grab it. Great things are on the way!
