Want to Make Sure You Act on an Intention?: Tell a Friend (Maybe Lots of Them)

Making social expectation and pressure work for you

Designer Stefan Sagmeister closes his New York studio every seven years for a year-long sabbatical. How did he ensure he would actually take the time off as planned? What can we learn from him about making sure we act on our intentions?

As Stefan explained in his TED Talk , "When I had the idea of doing one [sabbatical], the process was I made the decision and I put it into my daily planner book. And then I told as many many people as I possibly could about it so there was no way that I could chicken out later on."

The power of social expectation. Make it work for you.
