Life can come with a few challenges, and it’s no wonder we feel overwhelmed sometimes. It’s okay to not feel okay, and we can go through this together. I am committed to improving the overall wellbeing of others, and my passion stems from my belief that everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and empowered to live their best life. Following a person-centred approach, I offer an empathetic and non-judgemental space, and my practice is informed by evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Positive Psychology.

I work with individuals and couples. I believe that everyone has the innate ability to find solutions to their own problems. My approach to therapy includes building upon clients’ strengths and existing resources, as well as helping them cultivate and identify new resources to manage the challenges they are experiencing. I was born and brought up in HK. Having studied locally and in the UK, I’m fully aware of the issues of living overseas and the impact this can have on families and individuals. I speak English, Hindi, Sindhi and basic Cantonese.

Usually clients come with issues of feeling lost, having internal conflicts of some sort which create immense pain in life that may be related to experience in childhood. Some of the needs are muted, unrealised that led to feeling of being unheard and unworthy. During the process, if this is what have been encountered, you will be helped to understand the genesis of this internal conflict and how does it affect who you are today, with relationships and issues in life. To seek for a clarity of being stuck and how to get out of the rut after understanding your own needs and to make adjustments in daily life.

Are you feeling weighed down by the pain and anger of your past family dynamics? Do you feel like you have to be perfect all the time? Do you struggle with expressing your feelings and setting boundaries in your relationships? Are unresolved issues from childhood causing tension and arguments in your adult relationships? As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, have you faced rejection and judgment from your family and society? It's okay to feel this way. You are not alone. In fact, many people struggle with the after-effects of family dynamics, which can lead to depression, anxiety, and anger issues.

For client who wants to find purposes in their lives, need to make difficult decisions, suffer from emotional distress, or struggle with coping, my session is a safe space of unconditional support to work on any issues. Regardless of whether the matter may be related to external events like relationship conflicts or internal conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, or self-esteem, together we can not only move past the issue, but move forward in a more positive direction.

I work with adults who have a desire to better understand themselves and their place in the world. My primary area of focus is disconnection; from self, others, or from a sense of purpose in life. I believe that when we feel disconnected, a range of problems may arise as a result. Anxiety, depression, substance use, compulsive behaviours or feelings of numbness and unreality can often be alleviated through identifying areas in our life where we have become disconnected.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
