A group for parents whose children have recently started school (aged 4-7) and are struggling with emotional or behavioural issues like ADHD, anger, anxiety or disruptive behaviour. The group is led by an NHS Clinical Child Psychologist and experienced parenting practitioner. In this popular, friendly and welcoming group parents develop and practise strategies that build the skills and confidence to support their child's struggles, and share ideas and experiences with other parents.
The group meets every Friday morning, and lasts for 8 weeks. Contact me for further information or to join the waiting list for the next group.

Parenting a child who struggles with emotional or behavioural problems such as anxiety, low mood, or aggression is hard. They may have ADHD or behaviour issues, needing you to adapt your parenting - but you've tried everything and nothing works. This will understandably be affecting your home life, relationships, mood and confidence. It is isolating and lonely dealing with these challenges. A safe, nonjudgmental space with an experienced clinician can be transformative for both you and your child.
Why do actions arise from motivation but are still welcomed with frustration? The self-preservation instinct becomes an inner purpose for the unconscious and only a grounded self can face the challenge. It is well known that accomplishment should be an opportunity for self-fulfillment. Yet you rarely expect positive things to come. The future only seems uncertain, because of all the distracting thoughts you are trying to keep in order. It's difficult to focus, prioritise and commit to something meaningful while struggling to achieve control over your life. This is not the scenario you wish to follow.

My main goal is to help people to achieve a better quality of life by helping them to develop awareness and responsibility on their needs and desires. I consider therapy as a creative process between the client and the therapist that starts from a stuck point in life due to a symptom, a feeling of loss, a fear or a transition from one life stage into the next one. For me therapy is not about “to cure something wrong inside us” but an opportunity to transform our dysfunctional way to live.

MBT is recommended for people who experience intense emotions, impulsive behaviours and intense and chaotic relationships. It is an evidence based programme that was initially developed for people living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) by clinicians and researchers at the Anna Freud Centre, London. The therapy consists of both group and individual components and for MBT to be successful it is highly recommended that participants attend both. The group therapy sessions are different to individual therapy in that participants get a variety of people in the group who might evoke different responses and create opportunities for therapeutic shifts.

Family Constellations is an approach to help us find peace and reconciliation with the members of our family, or anyone with whom we are closely related. We learn to understand the underlying cause of any relationship problem, and discover how we are connected to the collective energy field of our family, culture or country, and how traumas of past generations still influence our lives and the decisions we take.

Living in a fragmented society often means that we don't have a space to bring our deeply personal issues for others to hear and see us without judgement or telling us what to do. An analytic group is a space where we meet and talk and try to make sense of our experiences. People are welcome to join the group and bring what they struggle with alone.

Quite often we have no adequate words to name how we feel, and we may get lost in familiar but unhelpful or hurtful patterns of relationships and behaviours. I offer people who are hurt, worried or isolated with their thoughts to jointly explore ways how to change these patterns.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO Build self-esteem and explore coping strategies in emotionally challenging situations so you can learn new ways of managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours? To develop communication skills and practise new behaviours in communicating more positively with peers, family, intimate partners & professionals? To develop an understanding of why we behave in certain ways in given situations if we feel threatened, insecure, upset or angry? To explore ways of creating, improving and living healthy and stable relationships based on reciprocity and trust with others?
If your answer to any of these is YES, I invite you to join.

There is a freedom to art-making that is extremely powerful. It’s an incredible tool that is not only reflective, but healing too. As a fully qualified Art Psychotherapist, I support and encourage people to create and express their inner world, regardless of their ‘ability’ in a safe space without judgement. Art therapy also gives the opportunity for people to communicate where there isn’t a pressure to try and find the ‘right’ words. Instead, they can express in an instinctual way not bound to verbal language. People can bring themselves to this therapy that may have initially been difficult in a non-arts-based practice.
Often, we may feel isolated with our problems, believing that no one truly understands what we’re going through. One of the greatest advantages of group therapy is the sense of connection it fosters, bringing together people who face similar challenges. Realizing that we’re not alone, and that we can also provide support to others, can be deeply comforting and empowering. Other key benefits of group therapy include: • Peer feedback and encouragement • Learning healthier coping strategies • Expressing feelings more clearly • Developing effective communication skills • Receiving emotional support • Offering support to others

Life’s challenges can sometimes weigh us down and stop us from being healthy, happy, and successful. Emotional issues such as addictions, anger, anxiety, depression, do not just make us feel bad, but they also jeopardize our futures. Furthermore, problems with families, friends, domestic partners, or spouses can leave us feeling distressed, lonely, and unworthy. Additionally, serious health conditions, financial troubles, loss of loved ones, and other crises can devastate us and make it difficult to get back on track.
Psychosynthesis Psychology has ground breaking concepts and experiential techniques for people interested in personal and psycho-spiritual transformation. It is a liberating discipline – a map to help navigate human experience, and a toolbox for life. BUPA's health insurance typically covers a range of mental health issues, including Anxiety, Depression, General Anxiety disorder, eating disorders, OCD, Panic attacks, PTSD, postnatal depression, and substance misuse.

This group is for everyone who feels they have a difficult, confusing and / or destructive relationship with food. You might have a specific eating disorder diagnosis or intuitively you feel challenged instead of nourished by food. The group will be led by Becky, a creative arts therapist, and Marissa, a nutritional therapist. They have come together to offer a unique space where the nutritional aspects of struggling with food can be explored alongside the emotional and psychological aspects. Both Marissa and Becky work creatively with compassion and gentle humour to create a safe, non-judgmental, inclusive space where people can feel heard and held.

I've worked for six years supporting people suffering with eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, depression and various addictions. My extensive experience has shown me that these symptoms are often a response to distressing or painful situations which can come from all areas of life, perhaps difficult relationships, grief or troubling events. I strive to meet all my clients with unconditional positive regard, with compassion and empathy. I work alongside my clients to nurture a space where they feel they can bring all of themselves, and meet even the most painful or shamed parts without judgment or criticism.

I am a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist working with individuals and couples. I offer a warm, supportive space to explore and work through whatever is on your mind, compassionately and with self-respect. Some emotional states can be difficult. And yet I believe that, if explored in a non-judgmental and caring way, they can release important learning about ourselves. They may point to entrenched ways of being that no longer serve us or beliefs that burden us in some way. Emotional pain can sometimes be a messenger that comes to highlight needs we have neglected or forgotten parts of our self.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in London?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, postcode, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counselling is typically less expensive than individual counselling, with each session costing on average between £45 to £60. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from £60 to £150. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your group therapy sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for group therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
