Are you having a difficult time with relationships in your life? Do you find yourself ruminating and worrying. Or lacking in confidence in certain areas? Is anxiety, depression, and past experiences keeping you stuck? Having had experience in working with clients with a variety of issues, I aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of your anxiety, overwhelm and stress and collaborate with you to look at ways to overcome and reduce the impact. And along the way, look at your own inner resources and what may be holding you back.

I work collaboratively with clients to explore their behaviours, thoughts and feelings and to implement positive changes. I use an integrative approach, meaning I use techniques from different approaches and blend them together to suit the client. As a therapist I really want to get to know who you are, and work with you towards your goals. I am an inclusive Counsellor and everyone is welcome. I am happy to work with the issues presented in the session, long or short term goals, behavioural issues, consistent worries and anxiety, feeling low or depressed, confused, invisible and misunderstood.

Welcome to my page! My journey to Spiritual Psychotherapy and Soul Psychology started 30+ years ago during the extensive study of Yoga, Meditation, and Eastern Philosophy. This led me to become a yoga and meditation teacher to assist others to find their way back 'home' to wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. Eventually I was led to a study of western psychological approaches. I am confident that my experience in the fields of spirituality and psychology has given me a unique opportunity to be able to access broader layers of human psyche to facilitate deeper levels of healing, soul integration, self-awareness, and self-empowerment.

I combine both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Solution Focused Therapy. Both well-established therapy techniques share certain basic similarities by focusing on helping the client identify solutions while decreasing the emphasis on the past. While SFT emphasizes the importance of the present, CBT facilitates changes in negative thinking patterns that lead to pre-occupation with past problems. Effective combination of both therapies can enable clients to focus on the positive elements of their life while gaining new confidence to achieve life goals.

Have you got the point where enough is enough and realise that something needs to change? Is self-doubt derailing your life and stopping you from living up to your full potential? On ‘paper’, it might look like you’ve already achieved a lot but in spite of this you never feel ‘enough’. Perhaps you hold yourself to incredibly high standards and feel like you need to be ‘perfect’. This might mean you feel like you always have to do ‘more’, which leads to feelings of tiredness and exhaustion and maybe even burnout. You may have even been told that you’re an ‘over thinker’ or identify as that yourself.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
