Life can be chaotic, and messy; but we don't have to navigate its challenges alone. I believe in meeting people where they are, as they are - whatever that may look like. Exploring and embracing the unique way we all work, and the challenge of finding what we need to thrive, is at the heart of my approach. I work with a range of human beings experiencing a wide array of concerns. I work with ADHD and Autism, anxiety, self esteem, identity, relationship and communication issues - but this is by no means an exhaustive list. My interest in neurodiversity is in part driven by the discovery in adulthood that I am neurodivergent myself.

My therapeutic approach is helpful to people experiencing emotional difficulties and looking to make changes from within. You might feel stuck and see obstacles in every direction, and feel unable to find a way forward, or you may be feeling overwhelmed and can’t find any clarity. This is where meaningful discussion with a skilled practitioner offers you a chance to spend concentrated time on yourself, which can help you gain deeper insight into the root of issues and give you greater clarity on your past and present. Short-term or open-ended sessions .

I view seeing a psychologist for ones’ mental well being in the same way as having a personal trainer for physical fitness. It makes good health sense. How many sessions and how often depends on the issue and what works best for you. If you have difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, complex trauma, PTSD, OCD, stress or just want to learn more about yourself, I’m here to help. As a psychologist, I’m able to help increase our understanding of ourselves and how any issues have come about and developed in the first place. This understanding can offer much relief in itself but also help to guide the treatment.

Hi I'm Tam. Firstly, I would like to say well done on finding the courage, and starting the process in searching and asking for help, this can at times be the most difficult part. The foundations of my work are built on the Person-Centred Approach and I aim to work and walk alongside you as we explore your problems, distresses or difficult situations you are experiencing. We will work together, to gain a better understanding of the difficulties that can present themselves regarding trauma and loss, self-identity, low self-esteem, anxiety, and making sense of the purpose of life ahead.

Through our bodies, we have a unique capacity to heal psychological wounds and break free of limitations. Psychotherapy offers space to be met exactly as we are, so we can begin to see ourselves as whole and access our inner guidance and resources. I believe in the wisdom of the body in how it responds to and heals from trauma, and I have experience of working with people somatically to find greater ease in their bodies and lives.

Difficult feelings may relate to depression, panic, anxiety, relationships, work stress, chronic or life-threatening illness and more. I aim to help by providing a safe, confidential & non-judgemental space. Focusing on what you bring to each session - the emphasis of our relationship is based on trust & respect. I have current experience of working in an NHS setting, cancer support and high schools. Together, we can explore whatever it is that brings you to counselling, and hopefully help you to make sense of things; perhaps coming to a different, more helpful understanding of yourself and your life circumstances.

I pay close attention to all aspects of your experience - emotional, physical, relational, spiritual.
Talking therapy is my vocation and professional passion. I am of dual heritage and have a background in languages: Communicating and listening are at the heart of my practice. My training was in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Minster Centre. This approach draws from the major therapeutic schools of thought. I think about what you feel on many levels and help you to find your own understanding. Whatever you wish to share, I give you time to reflect. I also work relationally. This means that the trusting partnership we develop will allow you to notice how you relate to yourself and others.

Struggling with psychological and relational difficulties can be debilitating and tiring.
Client's will be able to understand the historical and systemic influences to their problems and to find ways to create change both for themselves and others that they associate with. Many of my client's also have unresolved trauma that influences their day to day interactions, relationships, psychological state and/or physical health. They would hope to be able to make sense of both their mood and beliefs but to also be able to find ways to reprocess or clear any related trauma, make sense of associated anxiety, stress, behaviours and negative beliefs, to find ways to manage, think and behave differently and find new strengths.

I'm working with neurodiverse and LBGTQIA+ folk, offering support for emotions and relational issues that may be presenting at this time, or within past relations.
Hello How are You today? How many times are you asked but not heard? I will listen and hear how You are today. The core of my practice is the therapeutic relationship, I will respect, support, and hold an honest empathic space for you where we can explore and understand your feelings. Perhaps there are feelings of not fitting in, a round peg and square hole may come to mind, anxieties and depression may feel normality and a wanting to change. We can walk together through your feelings and emotions to find who you are and where you want to be.

I'm a relational integrative therapist meaning, the relationship is the therapy. It also means I use different types of therapy to meet your needs because, you are unique. Integrative therapy helps you become a more integrated whole person, better able to experience the entire range of your behaviour, emotions and thoughts as well as improving your relationship with yourself and others. Neuroplasticity continues throughout the lifespan which means that change and improvement in the way we feel is always possible and therapy is the best way to achieve this.

If you want to explore, understand and change your relational issues I can offer you a safe, secure space within which I will be a fully attuned, agendaless, non-judgemental, attentive presence.
The people I work with could be struggling with issues within their relationships with others such as sexual addiction, sexual betrayal trauma and psychosexual problems. Other people may want to develop their relationship with themselves such as improving their self esteem, personal compassion or self respect and dignity. My approach enables people to explore, understand and change their relational and personal issues. I can also offer more ‘general’ Couple’s Counselling and Psychosexual Therapy. I work with both individuals and couples.

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioural therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
