Being human is hard, but you don't have to go it alone. I can help you gain clarity about your needs and values. To slow down and pay more attention to your thoughts and emotional or behavioural patterns, which may be happening automatically or out of habit. To understand what their intentions are or what they’re trying to tell you about your life. To understand how you relate and talk to yourself, and to develop a more compassionate voice towards your self. This understanding will then be our guide for helping you to set goals and priorities for your therapy or your life, and for supporting you to work towards them.

Welcome! My name is Keeley and I’m here to support you and your child. Let me help you bring some harmony back to your family. Being a parent or a carer presents a whole range of challenges, and there are times when you may feel that you need the support of a professional to help your child to make sense of a difficult or complex experience, or to understand why they are behaving in a particular way. Everyone’s needs will be different, but whatever needs to be done to support you and your child you will always be at the heart of my work. The chance to be heard and to see concerns in a new light can make all the difference.

Hello, and thanks for looking at my profile. I’m an accredited therapist with over 15 years experience, and wholly comfortable in dealing with a range of issues, from trauma to depression, from abuse to anxiety. I’ve been described by clients as friendly, easy to talk to and empathic. For me, the most important element in therapy is whether you feel you can trust me - and I know this is not always easy. You’ve likely been hurt and perhaps a little wary and weary of people. I’m not going to “fix” you, I can’t! Though the good news is, by working collaboratively, you absolutely can heal the wounds you carry, of that I have no doubt.

I believe the difficulties we experience in life can be highly impactful on how we see ourselves, how we relate to ourselves/others and on our own wellbeing. We can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour, trapped in our own internal conflict or afraid of/detached from our own emotion. Recognising that each of us is unique, I view therapy as a highly individualised process that aims to help us understand how our own internal world may be impacting our external problems. Focus is placed on gaining a compassionate understanding of why our lives are as they are and on processing any blocked emotion that is preventing change.

The client needs to be heard. It’s not always about what the client says, it can sometimes be about what they don’t say. The client is the expert in their live and all I really do as a therapist is show empathy, compassion and hold a passion about sharing their journey and their insights. The needs and goals are there from the start and we work together to achieve them. The needs and goals can also change throughout because we’re human and things change and evolve.

I offer a safe and confidential space to explore new perspectives on current or recurring issues you may be aware of experiencing in relationships – personal, professional, self - which have maybe made you feel stuck or unsure of how to make meaningful change, as you move through life. Sometimes, we notice discomfort or pain in the body, which can be ways that suppressed emotions can show up in us. I aim to build a secure, safe, professional therapeutic relationship that will allow you to explore these aspects at your own pace.

Therapy is an opportunity to get to know yourself better, recognise patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and unpick which parts you would like to change. The main approach I use is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which involves the use of frameworks or tools to evaluate your own thinking and come to your own conclusions, ideally ones that are more balanced and flexible.

Hello, I’m David. A very warm welcome to my page. Life can be really tough and challenging, particularly in these current uncertain times. Our tricky minds are often good at allowing us to become overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions and this can make us stuck in certain behaviours and struggling to make sense of things. You may find yourself feeling anxious, low in mood or feeling stuck but not sure how to change things. Whatever may be going on for you, it can really help to have someone to talk to impartially to give you the space to talk through your difficulties, gain valuable insights and work towards your goals.

Having lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Manchester, and Glasgow, I gained unique cultural experiences and understood the struggle to fit in. Now, finding peace within my authentic self, I can empathise deeply with individuals who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety and self-doubt. I will treat your experience and opinions with respect, compassion and honesty because I want you to feel safe to talk openly in therapy. I intend to work with you as a team to fully understand how you respond to what happened. When you feel fully understood, a weight is lifted, and you will be more able to reflect and move forward.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
