Well into the 21st centuries, life has become faster and in many ways“easier” – the world is a click away – yet the demands have grown too. We are expected to be efficient, confident, independent and yet connected, relaxed, free. Contradicting expectations leave us confused, tense, dissatisfied ad it is difficult to navigate through vague routes. Against this background noise, we juggle relationships, families, work, friendships and sometimes the difficulties of the process become unmanageable. At times our struggle might take the shape of a psychological disorder: OCD, anxiety, depression; more often we feel confused or exhausted.
Psychological therapy offers a space where to make sense of one’s difficulties and find a way forward. I believe in a flexible approach, tailored to the client’s needs, expectations and circumstances. I mainly integrate a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework with EMDR and other models focused on relationships. My work with couples is integrative.
In broad terms, therapy can help you develop an understanding of your thinking and behavioural patterns and support you in adopting more helpful coping styles. Not everyone who approaches therapy is seeking change; support, growth and understanding are other valuable factors and objectives of the therapeutic process.
