Hi, I'm Deborah. I'm a psychologist and therapist. I can help with anxiety, self-criticism, low mood, social and relationship difficulties, volatile emotions, phobias, and habits or behaviours you'd like to stop. I want to hear your story and understand exactly what has been going on for you, and it's important to get a wider picture of your life and your history. I'll help you focus on exactly what it is you want to change and we'll set some immediate and longer-term goals. We'll use a mix of therapeutic talk, some exercises and experiments for you to undertake, and body work like relaxation or hypnosis if that is right for you.
Together, we will start by figuring out your goals and we'll set short-term goals and review as we go. Deeper-seated problems may need longer therapy of course. But even small changes in how you see things can bring a sense of release so you don't feel so stuck. You can start to feel more in control and that can start off a positive cascade of change.
You need a strong and trusting therapy relationship with someone who will really hear you and pick up on things that you might not be seeing clearly.
