Creating a space for personal growth in therapy begins with the development of a safe therapeutic relationship. My approach offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental active listening space where you can take time to explore your experience. This allows us to work together to define areas that may require our attention first and to check in on how you are experiencing your internal and external environment. Doing this helps to form a clearer picture of environmental, emotional, physical, cognitive, and behavioural events in your experience and how you currently manage and respond to them.

Receiving criticism and having conditions and opinions put on you, may prevent you from being your real self, impacting your confidence and self-belief. Carrying shame and guilt may mean you put yourself down and compare yourself to others. Not feeling good enough and unheard can be overwhelming, increasing anxiety and low mood. Counselling can help you process and move past unspoken experiences with issues of loss, abuse, confidence and relationships. It can support you to communicate your feelings more assertively, making your relationships more fulfilling. Encouraging self-kindness is sprinkled throughout my practice.

Your relationships affect the way you feel and difficulties can make you very unhappy, hurt and angry. One in five say their relationship is in distress. Some reasons people give are - emotional pain and distress, feeling unloved, conflict, infidelity, sex, different outlooks, children, career, addiction or family relationships. Communication, is often cited as at the heart of a distressed relationship, each of us thinks we are clear about telling our loved ones what is going on for us and we get frustrated when they just ‘don’t hear us’. It can all be very confusing and difficult to resolve.

If you are reading this statement then you are considering counselling for either you or someone close. Sometimes we all need help with coping with life either with past or present issues. These issues and how we currently manage them can prevent us from moving forward. They can also make us feel not too good about ourselves, others and the world. They can impact on our day to day life and relationships. My role is to work with you to create a balance in your life to enable you to move forward. I am also a qualified brain spotting therapist. This is a talk therapy that reveals unprocessed traumas through the use of the visual field.
