We can reach a point when we realise things haven’t been right for a while. We feel stuck and we can’t see why. Perhaps our emotions seem to control us and it feels scary. It can feel hard to reach out for help, but talking about this with someone removed from the situation can help us gain a new perspective and more clarity.

I think that it is really powerful when we feel heard and understood. When we feel like someone is trying to get who we are and where we’re coming from. My desire to listen, properly, is based on my years of working with people who have gone unheard by others and who don't want to ignore themselves and their needs any more. I think things can really change when we understand more about ourselves and what drives us to do the things we do.

There are many reasons why someone will seek counselling. Major life changes, even positive ones, can disrupt the balance of everyday life and impact our mental health. Traumas and experiences from our past can intrude on our peace of mind in the present. Bereavement and loss, illness and disability, relationship and work issues can affect our ability to function. Sometimes it feels like we have limited choices and we are unsure of where to turn to for support. Person-centred counselling is a safe and confidential space where you can be yourself and share what is troubling you.

I take a whole picture approach to my therapeutic work, getting to know clients and what is important for them, and why. My approach to working is a beginning-to-end approach, meaning that my focus is taking clients from where they are to where they want to be. I take great enjoyment in helping clients work toward their goals, and in supporting them in achieving a better relationship and understanding of themselves while doing so. I work online in a person-centred way with clients 12 and above. I have experience working with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, self-esteem related issues, trauma and abuse.
