Are you a parent concerned about your child's happiness, anxiety, well-being or behaviour? I’m here to help. With over 30 years of experience working with children and young people including as a CBT therapist, I specialise in empowering young individuals to conquer anxiety and take control of their lives. Behaviours like anger often mask underlying feelings and needs. Anger might conceal feelings of frustration, hurt, or fear. In many cases, these behaviours serve as a defence mechanism to cope with internal struggles such as stress, insecurity, or unresolved emotions.

I hold a Diploma in Counselling with a specialism in Transactional Analysis and a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
As a person-centred therapist I don’t see clients as a collection of symptoms, traumas and anxieties, nor do I see myself as having ‘all the answers’. Instead I believe my clients already hold these keys, but they can be lost, confused or alone. It is my job to work alongside them as another human being who deeply listens and cares. I came to counselling through my own struggles in life and I know how important it is to really connect with the person you’re sharing your journey with. My work with clients avoids judgment and shame; instead I seek to provide a warm and supportive space for us to sit alongside each other.

I use CBT to offer a structure on which to build your goals and make a plan for your future.
Are you an ADHDer or do you suspect you might be? Do you want to explore the value of accessing a diagnosis? How are you negotiating a world that is not set up for ADHDers? Perhaps you're feeling 'less than' others and left behind as those around you forge ahead in their careers, studies and relationships. Maybe you're losing sleep, coping in unhelpful or addictive ways, or perhaps you just can't stop the busyness in your brain. Your circumstances and background have shaped your life and you have not had much choice in that. Now it's time to learn new ways to approach your difficulties, to take charge of what comes next.

Are you seeking a place where you can truly be heard? I offer psychotherapeutic counselling in a supportive, non-judgmental environment where your voice is valued. My practice primarily focuses on individuals who are facing crises due to significant life changes—such as relocating to a new country, the end of a relationship, a lost sense of self due to trauma or challenges in relationship dynamics. Topics I had to work through as well and so lived experience informs my practice. Many of the clients I work with are at a crossroads, searching for their next steps after enduring trauma, loss, long-term stress, or life transitions.

I am a qualified psychotherapist specialising in CBT ( Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
Anxious? Depressed? Low mood? Self esteem and self worth issues? Lack of motivation? Do you feel like that? If so therapy can help. Turning to a therapist for support and guidance can help you realise you’re not on your own. The old saying of 'it's good to talk' is never a truer word spoken. I'm a good listener and I'm ready to hear you. The first step is what you're doing right now. We will work together through the challenges you face and set some goals. Clients often say they want to get back to their old self, however, my hope, by working together, that you become a new and improved version of yourself.

Using the CBT framework we will look at how your thoughts, emotions and behaviour are all interlinked.
Hello and welcome to my page. Sometimes our problems can seem overwhelming and out of control. We may experience unhelpful thinking and act in ways that may be out of character. The hardest part can be reaching out and asking for help. The good news is counselling can benefit so many. I know from personal experience that talking therapy can have positive, long lasting effects. I offer online and sessions in nature.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
