Welcome and hello. I work in person and online at Baldovie House Counselling and Psychotherapy. Our premises are just outside Montrose. We offer a safe tranquil and confidential environment. I view my job as helping you to say what it is that is troubling you and then working out what it is that you might want to change in your life and then helping you put that into practice. I work with an initial session where we explore these things and get to know one another. All my work is insured; I am registered with Information Commissioner for the keeping of personal information. Call, text or email and I'll respond within a day usually.

Choosing to take part in therapy can be a daunting experience. It is really important to find someone that you feel you can work with. My philosophy is that the relationship we will create is the key to therapy. The way in which I work is based on the principles of Transactional Analysis. It may be that you are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed and are having difficulty coping. Sometimes people just want to explore how their past continues to influence their present. Therapy can help us understand ourselves more, engage with ourselves and others more positively and move on in our lives.

Hi I'm Michelle and firstly, I want to say well done in taking the 1st step in seeking help by searching for a counsellor, it's not an easy step to take. Society is moving at such a fast pace that we don't take that time out to get a sense of our feelings about changes occurring in our lives, or to come to terms with other issues. We can often feel that our personal issues and challenges are not that big compared to other people's, however, if they are affecting your ability to live a fulfilled life then it is worth giving yourself space and time to process what is going on for you in your life through counselling.

Feeling on-edge, anxious or overwhelmed? Know that something needs to change but not knowing where to start or not feeling like you have the confidence to do so? Working with a professional in a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Coaching approach can help to identify and overcome challenges and difficulties you might be facing you in your life. It combines practical coaching techniques – setting out clear, manageable goals in line with personal values– with the cognitive behavioural approach when needed – to challenge and change unhelpful thinking and behaviour which might be holding you back, in a trauma informed and supportive space.

I'd like to help you break free from the impact that trauma has on your relationships with others. Perhaps you'd like to feel less anxious and stop sabotaging yourself. I can teach you how to reclaim control, discover joy, be able to say 'no', and feel that This Can Heal Too. Using evidence-based hypnotherapy, my goal is to empower you and provide you with tools to navigate life's challenges confidently. I have personal and professional experience in navigating the impact of childhood traumatic experiences and historical family issues on relationships at home and work and psychological well-being (anxiety, sleep, habits, fears...)

There are a lot of reasons why you might be looking into therapist right now. It could be that you feel as though you have lost yourself or are confused about who you are. Maybe it's a sense of feeling lost in the world or you're feeling overwhelmed, weary or confused. Perhaps relationships are difficult or you're experiencing pressures in life and they are starting to feel out of control. Therapy is a space to explore experiences and find ways to live through them with the bonus of someone by your side being there for you during that time. Sometimes you may not be able to put a name to what it is you are experiencing and that's OK.

Are you feeling trapped, stuck and finding it difficult to get out of bed in the morning? The daily life feels tasteless and numb to you. You seem to remember who you used to be, but who you are, at this stage, uneasy, emotional, is very foreign to you. On the counselling journey with me, I will explore and assist you to trace down to the rootcauses of these symptoms (e.g. palpitations, panic, low mood, anger), and release the stuck parts in you from the past memories and present experiences.

Engaging in therapy can be a big step to take and I welcome you. You might be looking to know more about yourself, you might be looking for change or you might have specific issue you would like some help to think about and work through, we can do that work together.

Emotional, relational and health-related difficulties can often arise from adverse life experiences or trauma. With the support of a psychotherapist you can work towards identifying the source of stress and anxiety, dissociation, depression, addiction, sleeping problems, issues related to eating and many other symptoms. It is by working at depth and carefully tracking what is happening in the body - along with emerging emotions and thoughts - that we can address the 'stuckness' of symptoms.
