Seeking counselling can feel like a big step. Perhaps a confusing one. Let me tell you a little about myself so that you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. I have a COSCA accredited Diploma in Person Centred counselling meaning that I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I have a creative, eclectic approach and can bring other models into the counselling room where appropriate such as CBT, small world, gestalt and even music. At the moment I offer on-line and telephone counselling, however, post pandemic would also offer outdoor walking therapy.

Accepting that we're finding things difficult is often the hardest part. Throughout every stage of life we can experience times when things don’t feel right and we struggle with our relationships, or to make sense of our thoughts, feelings and world around us. This can lead to us feeling anxious, overwhelmed and struggling to communicate.

When you encounter difficult times in our day to day lives it is helpful to be able to talk these through with someone who is trained and objective. To help you explore the issues that matter to you, bringing insight and understanding to enable you to find your way through problems and dilemmas.

Hello, if you've stumbled on this message, I can only imagine that you're going through a really difficult time. Perhaps you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed or just not quite like yourself and find it hard to imagine a way forward. I understand that it can be challenging to break free from patterns of negative thinking and behaviour, and that's where cognitive behavioural therapy can be incredibly helpful. Sometimes we may get stuck in these patterns, and it can feel like we're tangled up in knots that we can't seem to untie.

Only with knowing yourself as you are and the root of your distress can you make positive changes. Person or client-centred therapy is a talking therapy based on the view that everyone has the capacity and underlying desire for personal growth, given the right conditions. As a therapist, I embody and offer such conditions of unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence in order to help you come to terms with any negative or overwhelming feelings and to change, develop, and grow in accordance with the best interests of yourself.

It takes courage to reach out for support. We can find ourselves stuck in unhelpful patterns and longing for change. Maybe you feel lost, stuck, anxious, depressed or have low self-esteem? Our work together will focus on helping you move forward in the ways you wish. I am dedicated to creating a space where you feel seen, heard and valued. Experience has taught me how essential the strength of the therapeutic relationship is in bringing about positive change. I believe it is through an accepting and compassionate connection that we can transform our perspectives and the way we relate to ourselves and others in the world.

Taking the first step towards therapy, or returning to therapy, can be difficult. Yet working through your experiences can help to process life more meaningfully. Being a qualified psychodynamic therapist means that I understand how even the smallest of issues can play such a huge part in what you may be feeling inside. We can work through this together, as I invite you to share your issues in a warm, empathic, yet well-held space.

As a therapist, I firmly believe that each of us holds the answers to our own issues within. My role here is to help you recognise these and support you in working through them. I will aim to create a trusting counselling relationship throughout our sessions, where you can feel able to express your feelings in an empathic and accepting environment. Through this collaboration, our aim would be for you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, in turn facilitating the change you are aspiring to achieve.

We are living in a constantly changing world, where we are exposed to a lot of triggers. It is understandable that you are finding it difficult to cope. Do you know exactly what are the issues you are facing? Or maybe you know there is something that just isn’t right, but could not pinpoint what it could be? Either way, it can be a great starting point for therapy.

Are you a parent concerned about your child's happiness, anxiety, well-being or behaviour? I’m here to help. With over 30 years of experience working with children and young people including as a CBT therapist, I specialise in empowering young individuals to conquer anxiety and take control of their lives. Behaviours like anger often mask underlying feelings and needs. Anger might conceal feelings of frustration, hurt, or fear. In many cases, these behaviours serve as a defence mechanism to cope with internal struggles such as stress, insecurity, or unresolved emotions.

Bu Therapy works with YOU. You are, after all, the expert with what is going on in your life today. Together we will work on areas that might be affecting your life and what you would like to change. CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) looks at the present rather than the past and identifies negative or maladaptive thinking styles that make you see things differently and out of focus. I will work with you in a collaborative manner so we can correct this “blurred view” of life and bring clarity, focus, and direction back into your life, and “together we can come out of the darkness and into the light".

Coming to counselling is daunting - I want to eleviate as much of those initial fears as I can - I will never push my clients to speak about anything they are not ready to. My sessions go at my clients pace - I am not the expert in their lives - they are, my clients autonomy is something that I will encourage my clients to explore. Quite often we have the answers and know ourselves what we need to do to change or improve our lives but we need the help to uncover it. In a world of filters, social media and the insatiable need to always be and want more it is no wonder the children and young people in our lives are suffering.
