As an integrative counsellor and certified trauma therapist, my aim is to help you work through whatever it is that has driven you to seek out therapy. I am a somatic trauma therapist, and this means that we would incorporate both the mind and body into therapy. My integration includes an awareness of how the body responds to emotional distress such as anxiety, anger, sadness and longing: an understanding of what a person’s body is ‘saying’ can help where the right words cannot be found. If this is not something that appeals to you, we can also practice talking therapy as I am experienced in both ways of working.
I work integratively, drawing on different approaches tailored to each individual client. My main approach is Psychodynamic which includes exploring past experiences and relationships and how they are affecting you today. We would explore and work through self-sabotaging behaviours and tendencies to self-criticise.
Our first meeting would be warm and welcoming, where we would talk about your needs and how I can best help you. We would discuss whether you would prefer short-term or open-ended therapy and discuss which approach you feel comfortable with. I would ensure that I provide a safe, secure space for you to be able to talk about anything without feeling judged.
