Hi, I'm Dr Bekah! I'm a Clinical Psychologist and Feminist Therapist. I specialise in gendered experiences such as birth trauma, perinatal mental health, violence towards women, motherhood, divorce and separation. Most commonly I work with people socialised as women struggling with difficult childhood experiences including emotional neglect, low mood, anxiety, anger, or more general feelings of dissatisfaction. When working with clients I think about patriarchal expectations and narratives and their impact on women (e.g. unequal division of unpaid labour, heteronormative ideals, control of women's bodies, etc).
In therapy I draw on a variety of models including, but not limited to Feminist, Somatic & Compassion therapies. In practice this looks like exploring the messages we have internalised from our early experiences and how this has informed our ways of coping in the world, challenging unhelpful social norms, and developing new, more helpful ways of being.
Whatever you are experiencing; the untangling, head space, and therapeutic relationship offered in a therapy setting aims to provide you with a safe space to explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. To explore whether working together feels right for you, I offer a free 15 minute consultation.
