We sometimes struggle and feel unable to cope. Difficult feelings such as unhappiness, loss, anxiety, anger, shame, guilt and low self-esteem can impact heavily on our well-being. Sometimes, we just feel stuck — our life is not how we want it to be. It can be daunting to ask for help but counselling provides the opportunity to work through such feelings without judgement or criticism to help guide you through overwhelming issues. It can be key to helping you get your life back on track, as well as enabling you to develop the tools to deal more effectively with future challenges and to make more insightful decisions.
My foundation is Psychodynamic but I adopt an integrative approach, drawing from different models to provide a tailored approach to suit your needs. The changes are long lasting, as we would explore the root causes of your struggles and aim to work through them, rather than just trying to manage the resulting symptoms or 'paper over the cracks'.
If you decide you may want to work with me, we would meet initially to discuss the problems you are struggling with and your expectations from counselling, and to make sure you feel comfortable before deciding to move forwards. You may feel lost or hopeless but talking in a focused way can really help you get clarity on what needs changing.
