I am passionate about supporting and empowering people to overcome life’s obstacles. My experience has allowed me the privilege of working closely with those facing unexpected and serious life events, either for themselves or those close to them. Often this has been as a result of physical health issues, neurological conditions, life stage transitions, loss or traumatic events; resulting in understandable distress and overwhelm for the person. I provide the opportunity to truly hear your story, understand how your experiences have influenced your life, discovering options for your next steps and a guide to your goals for therapy.

I help people work through feeling anxious, stressed, panicky, frustrated or low, whether it is because of a particular problem or life in general. You might be finding less pleasure in the things you used to enjoy, or you find yourself reacting in ways that are not usual for you. Perhaps it has gone on for a while or is affecting your work, relationships, health or other important part of life. My aim in therapy is to help you gain the understanding and tools you need to be able to feel better sustainably.

Struggling to cope with negative emotions can feel very isolating and, by the nature of some problems, guilt and shame can make us feel stigmatised and prevent us reaching out for support even when its not our fault. People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons from childhood trauma to life events as adults such as divorce, bereavement and stress and what they all have in common is a desire to feel better and begin to enjoy life. Some people find they use alcohol or drugs in an attempt to cope with their feelings but inventively this creates more problems

Let’s face it, life can be hard. To tackle the challenges we endure day-to-day, it’s essential to build a good psychological foundation and increase our fortitude. Without a balanced lifestyle our bodies and minds become less resilient. Are you struggling to move forward? My life philosophy is simple – be consistent and things will change for you. Work with me if you want to create healthier habits/behaviours and relinquish old beliefs that have weighed you down.

I was one of the first children's psychological wellbeing practitioners qualified in the UK and provide support for children and young people struggling with mild to moderate common mental health issues, such as social anxiety, separation anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, phobias, generalised anxiety and low mood. With 3 years experience of working in CAMHS I am aware of the issues that many families face in getting early help for their children. I am passionate about early intervention and believe that getting the right help at the earliest opportunity can make a world of difference long into adulthood.

I have been a Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Hypnotherapist for over 25years I specialised in the field addiction for many years. Working within addiction offered a wide and varied opportunity to work and become familiar with many client issues. Clients relying upon substances, use as a coping mechanism, however substance use causes further mental health issues which further complicates their ability to cope. I now work solely within private practice based at home where clients can relax in a confidential informal setting. This allows them time explore their own needs in a time frame which meets their own specific needs.

Some days it can feel a bit too much. Do you exhaust yourself trying to cope with whatever life throws at you? Even when you feel worn out, close to boiling point or increasingly flat inside? You may feel a need to show yourself strong and capable even when you don’t feel like that. You might treat others a lot better than yourself. This is likely to place a huge toll on your mind and body; perhaps even on the very relationships you put so much into. You can learn to carry less of life's burdens by yourself and get more out of your precious time. What dreams have you given up on? What would you do if you could?
