Pretending to be fine when we don’t feel fine at all can be exhausting - mentally, physically and emotionally. When we feel we have to hide aspects of who we are or how we feel, when we cannot be honest with others (and sometimes even ourselves) about our thoughts, feelings and struggles, we feel isolated and deeply alone.

I work with adults of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem and depression or are experiencing difficulties within their relationships. Sometimes it can be a very specific issue that is creating emotional distress in your life. You may want to understand a troubling past experience, or change the quality of your relationships with family and friends. You may be struggling with addiction and need help, or with past trauma that is causing you to be anxious or fearful. You have already taken the first step by looking for a counsellor.

Relationship difficulties, bereavements, life transitions are all things that can catch us off-guard, causing us to question ourselves/our lives and leaving us feeling overwhelmed, scared, numb and struggling to function as we’re used to. Or maybe you don’t feel that anything major has happened, but that something just doesn’t feel right. Many of the people I work with for example, describe themselves as textbook “high achievers” who have accomplished a lot but also carry with them a sense of longing, of life feeling flat or that, despite the successes, they as a person still just aren’t ‘good enough.’

I think we sometimes come to therapy not knowing exactly what it is that's causing us pain. Maybe we feel fear, anger, confusion or just a sense of detachment from who we feel we used to be or could be; sometimes it is only symptoms (such as addictions, eating disorders, OCD) which we can identify. Past, unaddressed, trauma may be arsing or you might be experiencing family or work issues or, maybe, you’re in grief (from a death/relationship breakdown). Whatever your reason for wanting therapy I know that, ultimately, we want to feel better than we do right now.

I believe a good personal connection is of vital importance, and hence offer our initial session for free. With so many years in the field I'll almost certainly have experience with whatever you bring, and I'll listen fully and without judgement. Clients often say it's a huge relief to finally share, as the root of so much pain lies in an awful sense of isolation and shame, a feeling of 'What's wrong with me?' We find ourselves nursing a raw wound yet dread being seen as needy or vulnerable. It’s hard reaching out for help, but we consult professionals in all other areas so why not here where it actually matters the most.

I offer a 15-minute complimentary phone call to establish your reasons for coming to therapy. I like to work with your therapeutic goal in mind and every 4-6 weeks we will have a review to ensure that therapy is fulfilling the therapeutic goal. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with a therapist can help you in making sense of challenging experiences and support you in personal growth and self-awareness. I like to work with Intergenerational patterns in mind and I am interested in the messages we receive from the body looking at somatic exercises and breath work supporting you in releasing tension, stress and anxiety.

In the face of mental distress our response may be to seek safety in ways that are familiar to us. Those familiar ways might work for a while, but sometimes they no longer serve us well and lead to deeper distress. I am a warm, empathic BACP Accredited counsellor, skilled and experienced in helping my clients work through difficult, sometimes painful, feelings. The qualities of caring and respect underpin the way I work. Whatever you are facing, I work with the person present with me to create a healing relationship that can help you live the best life you can.

I qualified as a therapist after a long career in the Arts. It gave me an inside understanding of the challenges life can bring and the complex thoughts and feelings we can struggle with. The clients I see have deep anxieties and low self-esteem, or have been through difficult circumstances that have left deep scars. They can feel overwhelmed by life or find relationships hard to manage. If any of these issues are affecting you, I want to reassure you that I'm someone who has experience and understanding of what you're going through and, with compassion and care, has helped others overcome these problems and change for the better.

I am a licensed, HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience as a mental health professional and researcher in the UK and Greece. I have experience working with adults, children and adolescents as well as families in treatment centers, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities as well as private practices. As a psychologist I use an Eclectic / Integrative approach, which means I adapt my approach, treatment and techniques to each individual’s difficulties, needs and what they want from therapy. I don’t believe that “one size fits all”, so I adapt my approach to each individual.
