If you feel anxious, low or find yourself in repetitive and unhelpful patterns at home or at school or work, you may want to embark on a process of self exploration. This process may involve looking back and thinking about past experiences, a journey of self discovery that may bring awareness about underlying processes, making them available to explore and think about, which may bring healing, personal growth and a noticeable improvement of your symptoms. The use of art materials can facilitate connections with hidden emotions, helping us to express feelings and thoughts that we might struggle to find words for.
Providing a confidential space and a range of art materials, I will sit with whatever you may bring to therapy, from a non judgmental stance and with a non directive approach, so you can feel safe to explore your feelings and experience at your own pace. Together, we will try to acknowledge and make sense of your emotions and difficulties.
No particular skills are needed to engage in art therapy and your art making may comprehend a range of options, including the use of verbal metaphors. If we work online, I will ask you to have something at hand ( it could be just pen and paper!) you might want to make whilst you talk, or divide the time between talking and making. At the end of the session, we will discuss your work. You might find that the artwork brings a deeper insight to the conversation!.
